Clash of Titans
In the fast and twisty tarmac of Rally de Castelo Branco, six titans were separated in less than one minute, with Tiago Rodrigues leading the pack.
The second round of the CNR took us to the center of Portugal, where the brave peloton had to face nine asphalt specials, snaking at great speed among the serene trees, that peacefully waited in the roadside, at the smallest of errors, to reap any aspirations to the victory.
The great difficulty of this event was not the weather, it was not the lack of visibility in the night section, but the challenge of keeping a strong pace in very fast and tight sections, where errors were paid with close encounters of the third degree with a pine tree (it rhymes!).
At the end of the first day, Echedei Benitez led the race with a short advantage of 8 seconds to João Pacheco. They were followed by Tiago Rodrigues, Pedro Henriques, Paulo Ferreira, Francisco Lalanda and Paulo Tempera, all spaced by a few seconds, who still remained in the fight for the final victory.
The second day brought some surprises, with the championship leader wasting a lot of time, thus losing the lead. João Pacheco was unable to take advantage of the error of the Spanish, leaving the victory in the round to escape to Tiago Rodrigues, who was the fastest man of the day.
After nine challenging stages, it was Tiago Rodrigues who came on top, leading the MR Corse's Skoda Fabia R5 to the lead of the rally, and of the CNR.
Pedro Henriques maintained an intense pace in his Hyundai, obtaining the first podium in this season for Come Over Gaming team.
In the third position appears the azorean João Pacheco of Chain Motorsport, who saw the second place escape by mere eight seconds.
In the fourth position comes another Come Over Gaming driver, Oscar Estevez, who didn't escort his team-mate at the podium for less than 2 seconds.
In the fifth position appears the first non-Portuguese. Echedei Benitez managed to secure fifth place, but saw the championship lead flee.
