Dancing in the rain at Serras de Fafe
Handbrakes off as the CNR 2018 by MS Events started off in a showery Rally Serras de Fafe. Echedei Benitez took the lead of a dance in the rain that the others could not follow.
The CNR 2018 started off in a rainy day, with the harsh first stages of Rally Serras de Fafe. The defiant conditions of lack of grip and visibility, caused many drivers to sucombe on the first day, recorring to superrally.
At the end of the first leg, Echedei Benitez already led the rally, but only for marginal three seconds to Oscar Estevez. Tiago Rodrigues, Pedro Henriques and Nuno Abreu completed the top5 farther behind.
The second day saw a climate improvement, however, the gravel was still damped and very tricky. João Pacheco had a blast, performing a great second leg, but was unable to challenge the rally leadership, due to a crash in the previous day. Leadership contenders, Oscar Estevez and Pedro Henriques, ran into problems in this second leg, retiring in the last part of the rally.
This left the Spaniard Echedei Benitez alone in the top, confortably driving his Peugeot 208 R5 to the first place of the rally, thus of the championship.
The runner up, with more than one minute behind, was the best of the rest, Tiago Rodrigues, taking is MR Corse’s Skoda Fabia to second place.

The organization wishes to leave a few advices, since this is an unsual championship format:
1) If you crash in a stage and retire from it, you will get superrally to the next Service Area, but you will still be in play. You will get time penalty, but you can still finish the rally, performing all the remaining rally days, and gather some points. However, if you exit to main menu in the middle of a rally, the game will assign you a “DNF”, which means that is over, and you will get no points no mather what you do. Be aware of this, so you do not throw away any precious points.
2) Another advice is to always check if you enter the correct car for that championship. The table that process the championship data, will apply automatically all championship regulations. So if you enter the rally with a car that is not registered for that rally championship(s), or if you change car between rally days, you will get disqualified. When you enter the first stage, be aware of the loaded car. If you messed up the car choice, before the start countdown is over, you can still exit to menu, select the correct car and return to track.
Good luck to all drivers, and be wary on this week’s rally. Castelo Branco's bushes are made of reinforced steel!
